Fun Stuff

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

The “birthday” part of my birthday weekend is basically over… it’s homework time. In any case, I had a blast this weekend, and I LessThanThree my friends. Let’s see, what did I/we do…

Thursday (yes, my weekend began Thursday evening):

202 project with Judy and Will… both of them are hysterical and we had some good times, even though it was for a class.
Dinner at BDubs El Charro’s with some MM peoples. Chatted it up with Julie and discovered that we’re pretty much identical twins, except she’s Asian and a girl, and I’m not :-D  Who else… Mike, Thayer, DJ, Chris …

I’m 19!

Woo!

The barrage of “happy birthday” comments on Facebook has been going all day. I think it’s hovering around 50ish people so far. Just got back from lunch (!) in Charlottesville with lots of peeps. Jillian’s brother supposedly has had a rough time adjusting to college life (plus the UVA factor) so we went to visit and have Chipottel. Twas good but between the Burrito Bol and the massive cake last night, I’m stuffed beyond belief.

Oh, and happy birthday Google, too:

Jolly?

In my Googling for the proper use of “jolly ol’ ” in reference to London, this was the first result. Interesting.

All in all

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

it’s just another day now,

Standing on top of the world tonight,

no one’s looking back at you…
I really really like this song. Go Lifehouse, and Go Genius Playlists for finding a song I didn’t know I had. iTunes+iPhone=Awesomeness.

Loooooong day today. Class from 11 to 1:45, lunch, then more class until 4:45. Quick trip to Circuit City and WalMart (the devil) to look at speakers, which I actually bought for $30 from WM. I hate that store but they have cheap car speakers. Government movie from 6:30 to about 8:45 – good movie but long – and then back to Harrison to …

MisterChips

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I was walking to meet some people for dinner, and passed by the dumpster behind Mr. Chips. This was sprayed on the side:

So random, yet so cool. There was some other poster up there, which I didn’t have time to photograph. Back tomorrow with a better (read: not iPhone) camera. I love random finds like this.

Skyline

Monday, September 15th, 2008

What a fun day with the MM crew. Aside from my “Lock-Dem-Shits-Up” moment on the way out of Harrisonburg, the Miata did really well up in the mountains. No brake fade, enough power (once I got it down to 2nd or 3rd), and an average of 29.4 miles per gallon. That’s with me driving to keep up with Thayer’s Vette and Kyle’s STi.

Oh hot damn, this is my jam.

We all took some sweet pictures today. They’re slowly starting to appear on the forum and I’m loving it! Aah, SUCH good times!! I can’t wait to keep driving and …

Photoshop Fun

Friday, September 12th, 2008

This new East Campus Library (ECL) is pretty swanky. As a bonus, there’s next to nobody here, so I didn’t have to fight for a computer. It was hard enough finding a Mac with Photoshop with the SMAD labs closed off for testing. I could have used my MBP at home, but motivation is always an issue at home – too many distractions. Oh, and the ECL lab has brand new iMacs:

1680×1050 resolution is my friend! Soooo much easier to work with than the 1440×900 …

Dear Peyton,

Friday, September 5th, 2008

It was such a treat to see you if only for a little while. I apologize for the chicken casserole. I have a tendency to skimp on the “fat” ingredients – in this case mayo and cheese. I’ve learned a lesson!

I wondered how your trip back was! It rained as long and hard as I’ve seen it in years. I checked the basement before I went to bed and was thankful that it was dry; however, the next a.m. I was horrified to see that water had backed up through the drains and had almost gotten up into the furnace …

Life, and such as.

Friday, September 5th, 2008

I love Bumper Sticker on Facebook. Just throwing that out there. This one is one of my new faves:

and Barack is my homeboy. Or something. Amanda had sent me one a while back that had Ms. South Carolina, amidst her grandiose speech about nothing a few years back. The caption? FAIL AND SUCH AS.

Not gonna lie, I laughed. Actually, I LAWL’D, only because I’ve been wanting to use that (with that spelling) for eons. So hah, now I did.

In other news…

I’m not living with Jillian and Patrick next …
