I am finally laying in bed after a combined 15-hour shift. In all, it was a great day… nothing like the “iPocalypse” of last year with the 3G launch. We were far better organized this year. No servers crashed, the calls to AT&T were minimal, and morale was high.
I woke up at 4:30, parked at 5:30 amidst some folks waiting in cars for mall doors to open, was let in by a security guard, and punched in around 5:38. The line was formed at 6, and we opened for business at 7. Us orange-shirted folk took care of the lines and customer service-y stuff all day. Nobody was seriously bent outta shape – which is rare for anything involving so many people and shiny iPhones.
Coffee, schnacks and water were served all day long. That goes a LONG way toward making everyone happy in line.
I left at 1 to go to my dentist appointment, dozed off a bit in the chair, and was back at work by 3:30. We had even more Concierges on the floor by then, so I started selling phones and helping ring out accessories. I finished my night with more (smooth) iPhone sales. And the best part?
Our line was empty by 10 PM. That was completely unexpected. I left the store around 11:30, I guess, and was more than pleased to make it home by midnight.
This post is nowhere near clever, just a synopsis of the day… I’m too tired to be coy or witty or whatnot. Back in tomorrow at 11. As always, a great THANK YOU to my fellow Fair Oaks friends for holding things together all day – everyone made today run smoothly and the effort is certainly appreciated.
